First Sunday Collection on March 3rd Benefits First Church’s Nonprofit Initiative - Jericho Road Dallas

Jericho Road Dallas will help nonprofits in underserved neighborhoods function at higher levels, matching volunteers’ professional talents with nonprofit needs, promoting community development, strengthening social services and enriching the lives of volunteers.

First Church is launching Jericho Road Dallas, part of our five year strategic plan.

In the Jericho Road model now at four Massachusetts and one California site, volunteers conduct short term, custom designed and professionally managed projects for nonprofit organizations at no cost.  Jericho Road Dallas will be a separate 501(c)(3) with First Church as the founding partner.

David Overton leads and Senior Minister Daniel Kanter guides the leadership team of Bill Didlake, Fran Eichorst, Susan Hamilton, Paula Larsen, Alan Lummus, Joe Sifferman and Jenny Weil. Over 30 Dallas nonprofits confirmed the need for Jericho Road Dallas;  125 church members have indicated their professional talents and potential interest

Given nonprofit needs, a strong foundational volunteer base and confidence in financial feasibility, Jericho Road Dallas is now soliciting funding equal to an 18 month projected budget, applying for 501(c)(3) status, and working toward launch.  All leadership team members have made financial commitments, two grants have been received, and through his upcoming Ride to Jericho, Daniel is raising awareness and funds.  Our hope is for funding from 100% of our congregation.

Jericho Road Dallas will make sustainable change, bridge social, geographic, racial and economic boundaries and strengthen our community.
