Donald Krehbiel is the Director of Music at First Unitarian Church of Dallas. Joining the church staff in 1989 as Sanctuary Choir Director, he was named Choir Director/Organist in 1990 and Director of Music in 2001. He holds degrees in vocal performance from Bethel College and a Master of Sacred Music from Southern Methodist University and Perkins School of Theology, where he studied organ with Dr. Robert T. Anderson and conducting with Lloyd Pfautsch. Mr. Krehbiel has been a frequent tenor soloist with early music ensembles, including the Dallas Bach Society, the Texas Baroque Ensemble, New Mexico Symphony, and Handel/Haydn Society of Austin. He has also performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and the Carmel Bach Festival.
In 1995, Mr. Krehbiel founded the Orpheus Chamber Singers, a 24-voice professional ensemble. This critically-acclaimed choir has been noted for their “gorgeous, eloquent singing”. Serving as Artistic Director, Mr. Krehbiel has built this choir into one of the finest in the country, and is noted for his innovative programming.
