- Capital Campaign: Phase one of the Chart and Compass Capital Campaign has officially come to a close with nearly two thirds of our projected $9-million budget raised! We are very grateful to everyone who has made a pledge commitment. A successful Annual Canvass is now essential to supporting our Chart and Compass initiatives. The next phase of the Capital Campaign will be launched in January 2008.
- Facilities Team: This team is currently working toward the University Park City Council meeting scheduled for October 4th, and reports that the general contractor selection process is nearly complete.
- Church Archive Team: Staff sponsor Chris Denney and team leader Sam Childers need more volunteers to help with the important task of preserving our historic records. Join the Archive team! We need your help! Contact Tom Kirwin (tkirwin@dallasuu.org) to volunteer.
- Social Action Council: As part of the Social Justice component of Chart & Compass, the Social Action Council will add around 50 books and DVDs on peace and the environment to the church’s collection of library materials. For a partial list, contact John Whaley (jnowhaley@yahoo.com) or Alan Lummus (alummus@bkmts.com). The SAC team also reports that initial sales of “Embracing our Diversity”
T-shirts have been brisk and that planning for Earth Day 2008 has already begun. - Publicity and Branding: Following the successful introduction of the “reach deeper” campaign on Ingathering Sunday, the team is now busy refining the spots and producing additional materials to for internal use and to support an eventual public marketing-push. Screensavers of the campaign are available to anyone interested and uureachdeeper.com website-development is underway. General branding-development is ongoing.
- First Sunday Plate Collections: Launched as a Chart and Compass initiative to support outside, not-for-profit organizations and now an ongoing program of the church, First Sunday Plate Collections has now passed the $100,000 mark! Nomination forms for recipients of these collections are available on the church website, in the church office, and on the First Sunday bulletin board in Channing. November
