The protests of the Occupy movement give us an opportunity to reconsider some priorities in our lives.
They first and foremost lift up the destructive power of greed as a spiritual problem in our country. They ask us how we might increase fairness in all aspects of life and create more economic justice in our communities and businesses. And they demand that we study the difference between democracy and capitalism.
We might consider how we can help bring about 100% of our population’s concern for the serious global issues we face such as environmental degradation, the increasing gap between the rich and poor, and our responsibility to participate in both local and national governance.
The Occupy movement is a finger pointing at these issues, and for that we are grateful. ~ Rev. Daniel Kanter
