New YMCA Building Project Approved

We congratulate our neighbors at the YMCA who recently got the approval to build their new building. At the same time, as we know from our own facility expansion, they have much yet to do before the dirt flies. To begin with, they must raise the 25 million dollars, and begin getting detailed plans together and approved. It will therefore be quite some time before we will see any construction begin across Normandy.
Their good news is our good news. First Unitarian has a long-standing relationship with our neigboring YMCA, and we have negotiated an agreement with them for access to their underground parking once construction is complete.
1) We will have access to underground parking in their facility. This will mean up to 300 spots from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, weekdays after 6:30 p.m. for evening services and programs, and any special programs and services of the Church on Saturday evenings or Sunday evenings after 6:00 p.m. (with the understanding that no access will be permitted after 9:00 p.m. and no exit of the garage permitted after 10:30 p.m. - unless its Christmas Eve when we will have later hours).
2) It is possible there will be No Parking around streets abutting the Y. We will, however, retain street parking on our side.
3) The approval still requires a detailed site plan.
4) We'll work with both the City and Y regarding any potential on-street parking during construction.
That's where we are for the time being. We will let you know more as soon as we know more!
