The mission of Family Gateway is to provide stability and life-changing supportive services to children and families affected by homelessness. Family Gateway believes in providing housing first and then wrapping trauma-informed services around families to help them break the cycle of poverty. At Family Gateway, families of all kinds are welcome.
The interventions provided at Family Gateway give young children who have experienced the traumatic effects of homelessness the chance to build the resiliency and competence they need to break the detrimental cycle of homelessness. These interventions include case management services to help families establish goals and regain self-sufficiency and education and childcare to make sure children are enrolled in school and have the resources needed to succeed.
The success of Family Gateway’s children and families depends on support from community volunteers. There are a variety of meaningful ways to get involved including preparing a room for a new family to move in, tutoring in our afterschool program, organizing a donation drive, teaching an adult class, planning activities for children, or providing administrative assistance.
