Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to get an introduction to the church?

Attend a worship service. Our worship services are weekly reflections that weave together our own thoughts and experiences with music, beauty, poetry, and words that both comfort and challenge. View upcoming in-person and livestream worship services here.

What should I do on my first visit?

Every Sunday, we have in-person services at 9:30 and 11am. For your first service, we recommend arriving about 15-20 minutes beforehand. Park in the YMCA Garage on Normandy and enter the Welcome Center. Let a greeter know that it’s your first time visiting and they will help you. Get more information about parking and directions here.

What do you believe?

Unitarian Universalists believe more than one thing. We think for ourselves, and reflect together, about important questions including the existence of a Higher Power, life and death, sacred texts, inspiration and guidance, and prayer and spiritual practices. Learn more about our beliefs, principles, and sources here.

What will my children do?

We offer childcare for children under 3 in the nursery at both services. Religious education for children ages 3 & up takes place during the 11 am service. You do not need to fill out any forms before your first visit. Just show up and we will help you get oriented at the Children’s Ministries desk. Get more information about programming for children and youth here.

What should I wear?

From jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties, a full range of fashion is represented every week at First Unitarian. There is no dress code or “norm.” Come as you are, and you will be welcomed.

How do I stay updated on church news and events?

What if I have questions?

Inquirer’s Class is a series designed for visitors and newcomers who are looking for a general introduction to help decide if First Church would be a good match for them. We welcome your questions. The class meets at 11:00 am every Sunday in the church parlor or on Zoom. Learn more about Inquirer’s Class here.

Creating a worldwide church commumity

First Unitarian Church of Dallas is continuing to create new ways to connect you with our community no matter where you are in the world or how you prefer to get involved. We have members that are in the pew every Sunday and members that have never stepped through our doors.
If our message speaks to you, there is a place for you here, both in-person and online.
